- measurement of satisfaction and loyalty indicators.
In B2B projects, research design is particularly important because study populations are usually smaller, more diverse in decision-making roles, and harder to recruit. In such cases, the research plan must account for the specifics of the respondent’s role, the length of the purchase process, and the fact that one organization may be represented by several perspectives. This applies, for example, to studies of distributor needs, analyses of the purchasing process in companies, or testing value propositions for institutional clients.
In practice, a well-prepared research design helps determine when a quantitative study is sufficient and when an exploratory stage is needed. For example:

- Translate the problem into objectives and research questions – identify what knowledge the organization actually lacks.
- Choose the research logic – exploratory, descriptive, or explanatory, depending on the maturity of the problem.
- Select the methodological approach – quantitative, qualitative, or mixed-methods.
- Define the population and sampling rules – along with respondent inclusion criteria.
- Design the measurement tools – questionnaire, interview guide, diary, experiment, or observation scheme.
- Determine the data analysis method – before the study starts, to avoid collecting analytically useless information.
